The super bowl has always confused me. Watched by more than 100 million people each year, it is the most watched sporting event in the United States.

  1. Ads on TV are a guarantee. Usually, people complain about the ads on tv and would describe them as: “annoying”, “boring”, “interrupting my show”. During the Super Bowl however, there is a group that: “just watches the ads”. What confuses me the most about this statement is that during the Super Bowl it seems there are more ads than actual football. While ads interrupting your programs are usually annoying during the Super Bowl it somehow becomes acceptable for some people.
  2. The amount of attention Taylor Swift gets is something that has brought extra attention to this year’s Super Bowl. Why do so many people care about Taylor Swift? I don’t know. Why do people watch the Super Bowl to see Taylor Swift? I don’t know.
  3. A single 30-second Super Bowl ad costs $7 million. While I understand that a Super Bowl ad can be important for a company looking for attention, to $7 million seems to be a little bit too much for a single ad.
